Our Professional Rain Gardener Certification is geared toward landscape professionals and contractors looking to install rain gardens professionally on residential properties.

To earn this certification, participants are required to:

  • Complete the online or in-person 5-week course
  • Pass a final exam
  • Install at least one residential rain garden; OR
  • Attend a field day at which participants will install a public rain garden from start to finish

Upon course completion, participants will be awarded a Professional Rain Gardener Certification, which can be used to promote your expertise and as a selling point for your business.

 

The professional track is offered for Chagrin River Watershed Partners Courses only.

Winter Online Course
Hosted by Chagrin River Watershed Partners

Recorded online content is provided each week with optional live Q&A sessions held virtually once a week (Thursdays at 12:00 P.M.). Professional certification track offered. Five classes held over a six-week period. Optional final in-person class offered Saturday, March 14 from 10AM – 1:30PM at the Watershed Stewardship Center in Parma.

Late Summer In-Person Course

Five in-person classes held over a five-week period on Thursdays from 10:00 A.M. - 1:00 P.M. Optional fieldtrips to MRG alumni rain gardens, public rain gardens, and a native plant nursery included!

  • August 6th – September 3rd, 2026
  • Location: Willoughby Public Library
  • Professional Track: $110
